Vaping is similar to smoking. It is considered as the safest alternative to smoking. It has been in the market from a decade or so and is still gaining recognition. However, there are lot of people who do not understand the difference between them. It is more like choosing the lesser of two evils. Smoking is more like tar, in addition to its various particles in it with variety of carcinogenic substances – the smoke of tobacco cigs which contain vast amount of harmful chemicals in them. With smoking, it has been observed that over 70 per cent of them have proved to be cancerous or cause lung diseases because of presence of tar. On the contrary, vaping does not contain any use of tar. It contains a liquid called e juice or e-liquid, which will burn upon triggering. The user can choose amount of nicotine, they require in it.
Understanding e-juice composition and flavours:
e-juices are in various flavours and compositions. It mainly includes 4 components in it. They are- nicotine, propylene glycol, vegetable glycerine and flavouring agent. The user can choose the amount of nicotine they want. It may range from 2mgs to 24mgs. The levels are decided by the company or the brands. It ranges from zero (with zero per cent nicotine), ultra-light (six mg of nicotine), light (12mg of nicotine), regular (average 18mg of nicotine), full flavoured (very strong -24mg of nicotine), unfiltered (super strong 36mg of nicotine). These are the general levels of nicotine which a user can choose and customise it based upon their requirement. On the other hand, it has been observed that, traditional smokers usually choose for full strength nicotine. Nicotine is naturally available nitrogen component. It is derived from plant sources. These days, it is also synthetically manufactured. The primary plant through which it is naturally derived is tobacco.
The second component involved in the composition of the e-liquid taste is propylene glycol. It is a component which creates fog or smoke when triggered. It is odourless and tasteless but it is an excellent solvent. The third ingredient which contributes to the taste is vegetable glycerine. Vegetable glycerine is also 100 per cent solvent. It has been derived from plant source and is natural by-product of few oils. In the experiments with propylene glycol to vegetable glycerine ratio, the more vegetable glycerine, the more fog is observed.
The above mentioned ingredients are tasteless and odourless. The component which gives flavour to the product is flavouring agent. There are over 100 varieties of flavouring agents in the e juice. Few of them are available in single state and few in combination. For instance, there are flavours which taste like mint. They contain menthol taste and are suggested to give the peppermint flavour in mouth. They commonly give the taste of coolness in mouth. Similarly there is another taste which gives you the feel of dessert. It tastes sweet and smells exotic. You can choose the taste of different smells. Few commonly available smells are tobacco, milk and honey, strawberry, cranberry etc.
